Youth empowerment project is underway

500 young people from Kenya’s Trans-Nzoia East district are being selected to receive training in how to set up and run agricultural enterprises. It is hoped that this will help reduce youth unemployment and increase food production in the area.

On Sunday 17th April ten brave runners took to the streets of London to raise money for Farm Africa.  Each and every one of them finished the marathon, and they have raised close to £25,000 – a huge achievement in every way. Thank you to all who took part and came along to support.

Update on our forestry project in Bonga, Ethiopia

In Bonga forest, SNNPR region, Ethiopia, we are working with 26 villages to help them form Participatory Forest Management groups.  These groups will ultimately take responsibility for managing areas of Bonga forest and ensuring it is preserved for future generations.

2,700 people benefit from a new borehole in Kenya

At the end of 2010, Farm Africa drilled a new borehole in Nzeluni village, Mwingi district, eastern Kenya. It is now providing 2,700 people with access to clean water, and will continue to do so as ten members of the village have received training in how to maintain it.

Improving animal health services in western Kenya

Last month 27 men and women in Vihiga, western Kenya completed the third and final phase of their training to become qualified Community Animal Health Workers.
