EFFP makes Farm Africa its chosen charity for 2012 Annual Conference
02 August 2012
Farm Africa is thrilled to have been selected by European Food and Farming Partnerships (EFFP) as the chosen charity for its 2012 conference, “More with Less – driving performance sustainably”.
EFFP’s selection of Farm Africa as its chosen charity could not be more timely as the conference is taking place at a time when escalating global grain prices are affecting global food security. And with climate issues also impacting on many other sectors, getting to grips with what to do is more important than ever.
EFFP’s 2012 Annual Conference will take place this year at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London on November 13. It will bring together expert speakers who will set out how companies and organisations can drive performance sustainably, and how to balance this with their need to meet both short and long-term goals and targets.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear directly from those in the food supply chain including Tesco, Birds Eye, and Molson Coors. The conference will also include specialist opinion from the Food and Drinks Federation (FDF) and the National Farmers Union (NFU).
Farm Africa Trustee, Richard Macdonald, welcomed EFFP’S selection of Farm Africa as its chosen charity for this year’s conference:
“Farm Africa is delighted to have been selected as EFFP’s chosen charity for the 2012 conference “More with less – driving performance, sustainably”. All of us in UK Food plc are now involved in global supply chains and are concerned about production across the world. A prosperous and productive agriculture sector in Africa is ever more important. Farm Africa has built an excellent reputation for working at the intersection of building food security and incomes through improved production, enterprise development and market linkages whilst at the same time creating and maintaining sustainable agricultural natural resource management.”
And EFFP’s Senior Partner,Siôn Roberts said:
“I am pleased to announce EFFP’s support for Farm Africa via our 2012 annual conference. Global population increases and pressures on food production makes it vital for charities like Farm Africa to exist, ensuring famers have the equipment and know-how to manage their land more effectively longer-term. Every project Farm Africa undertakes includes supporting communities to understand and apply post-harvest added-value to build long-term sustainability – critical in facing the current and future’s increasing food security challenges.”
100% extra: it is estimated that we need to double global food production in the next forty years to feed the world’s growing population
