Addressing the Double-Crisis of Locusts and COVID-19 in the greater Horn of Africa

A statement from the Regional Desert Locust Alliance. The combined impacts of COVID-19 and the desert locust invasion. The alliance confirms that the locust invasion will worsen the already dire food security situation in the greater Horn of Africa. It is critical that locust surveillance and control operations, as well as livelihood and food security responses continue, even with the movement restrictions in place to prevent the spread of the virus.

Farm Africa is excited to announce a new partnership with 5th Season, a company that is getting more people to eat fruit by serving up delicious fruit bites. For every pack of 5th Season sold, 1p will be donated to Farm Africa over the next three years.

Farm Africa’s Board of Trustees has appointed Dan Collison as the organisation’s new Chief Executive. Dan has 25 years of experience gained in a range of humanitarian, emergency and development roles within organisations such as Save the Children and Christian Aid. He is currently the Director of Programmes and Advocacy with War Child. 

Community-led action critical for locust livelihood response in the Greater Horn of Africa

A statement from the Regional Desert Locust Alliance on the desert locust invasion across the Greater Horn of Africa. Activities to control locusts and address their impact on livelihoods must continue, as it remains a critical threat to food security and livelihoods across ten countries.
