It’s been a busy few months for our Friends of Farm this summer, kicking off with Bill Acworth’s Little Hidden Farm day. A lovely day in the sunshine, Bill took visitors on a farm walk, which was followed by a delicious lunch cooked by his wonderful volunteers, and an afternoon of craft activities with a live band.

Companies to climb Mt Toubkal for Farm Africa

Three teams from across the international food and drinks sector have taken on the challenge of a lifetime by agreeing to climb North Africa's highest mountain to raise funds for Farm Africa.

The teams come from the UK-based food companies Moy Park and ABP UK and the Zurich-based SABMiller Trinity (Zug), a subsidiary of SABMiller, the South African brewing multinational.

Improved sesame prices for Tanzanian farmers

Following the success of the first phase Farm Africa has now embarked upon a new phase of the project, working with the same 920 farmers from 46 farmers’ groups. This second phase has seen farmers move from the demonstration plots onto co-operative farms where they are putting their training into practice, and seeing some dramatic results too.

Mapping and conserving Ethiopian forests

Since the project began Farm Africa has worked with forest communities to establish 84 Forestry Management Groups with more planned. These groups are across Amhara, Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s Region (SNNPR), Oromia and Beni-Shangul Gumuz regions.
